Who should take BASIC PISTOL?

You, if even one of these statements applies to you:

>> There are handguns in the house--I want to know how to handle and store them properly.
>> I haven't used a handgun in a while and want to refresh my knowledge and skill.
>> I'm considering obtaining a handgun and want to make an informed choice.
>> I want to become comfortable with handguns so my spouse and I can share the sport.
>> I want to complete the training requirement for the Virginia "concealed carry" permit.

What will I learn in BASIC PISTOL?
You'll learn how to select the handgun that's right for you, how to safely handle it, how to accurately shoot it,  how to properly clean it and how to responsibly store it.

What's the focus of BASIC PISTOL?
BASIC PISTOL is focused on helping you develop solid foundational skills and responsible handgun ownership.  If you choose later to take a defensive pistol or tactical pistol course, BASIC PISTOL will provide you the solid foundation you need to build upon.

How is BASIC PISTOL taught?
The classroom portion of BASIC PISTOL is taught using short videos, PowerPoint presentations, handouts and handguns, both dummy and "real".  The class is limited to six persons, so there is plenty of time for everyone to master the material and become comfortable with a variety of handguns.

Where are BASIC PISTOL sessions held?
The classroom portion of BASIC PISTOL is held in a small, comfortable conference room just a couple of blocks from the intersection of I-195 and Broad Street in Richmond, VA.  The live-fire session is held at Blackcreek Shooters Association, located just off I-295 at Cold Harbor, VA.

Do I need a handgun for the course?
No.  In fact, if you don't already own a handgun, we strongly recommend
you complete the course before you make a purchase.  With the
knowledge you gain from the course, you'll be much more likely to buy
a handgun that meets your needs.

I truly did enjoy the class and was actually disappointed that it had to come to an end.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It has inspired me to continue learning and take more classes--Allison P.
